Last weeks in Germany

I know I know... it´s been a while since last update ...
Most remarkable things in these last few weeks have been:
- The cultural dinners we had been keeping since we got here in September...
- The Deutsch-kurs, the adventure of trying to be understood and the almost impossible mission of understanding others...
- Parties, birthdays and biergartens...
- Days-off, weekends visiting and discovering new places and all the new experiences in Germany

Ein viertel des Jahrhunderts.

Today is my birthday, it feels weird to celebrate it like this, but it´s quite alright.
It's great to find out a bunch of new things and live through new experiences as well as it is also great to be with the people you care doing the things you like in the places you like.

Sharing some time with my sister in our "twin" birthday, having a dinner out with my friends, celebrating La Mercè, attending to la Festa del Cel, la Setmana de l'Aeronàutica or the International Air Meeting and having a nice long weekend considering that tomorrow Thursday is a local festivity in Barcelona ... are some of the things that I am missing.

Here instead ... this morning we had the launch of a German satellite from India broadcasted live in the Robotics building, I have to study for the Deutschprüfung for tomorrow, I have a dinner tonight with some other spanish people... are some of the things that I am doing.

You always want what you haven't got.

Maybe I am just living something that I would be looking forward to living if I was in Barcelona right now.

2 more weeks in Würzburg

Time is difficult to measure...but, technology, my friends, makes everything easier...

I have spent now 3 weeks in Würzburg. This is a fact:

It took me one week to find my wohnheim, register in the university and doing some other paperwork stuff ... I expected to be very busy... just as it has been.

Next two weeks have also passed really quick. It doesn't actually seem to me that much time. Let's say that I will believe that I am living in Würzburg for 3 weeks because the calendar say so!

I have been attending to the German course, getting to know a little of Würzburg and its surroundings and hanging around with my classmates and Jorge and Jessi, who came to visit me in Würzburg.

Every weekend we spend one day out. 2 weekends ago, we spent saturday in Bamberg, and yesterday we went to a "KletterGarten" close to Würzburg. Great time!

Arriving and settling down in Würzburg

Hoy hace una semana que llegué a Würzburg y ha pasado volando...

Un par de días en en youth hostel haciendo de turista por el centro de la ciudad, visitando Der Residenz, haciendo una primera cata de cervezas en los famosos Bier garten e intentando a aprender bien como se pronuncia Würzburg para que no lo confundan con Wolfsburg.

A principios de la semana me instalé en la wohnheim y a continuación empezé el Deutsche-kurs. En él, he podido comprobar como no es demasiado difícil sentirse como un ninyo de 6 anyos cuando empiezas a estudiar un idioma con unos conocimientos cercanos al 0.

Progresivamente han ido llegando mas estudiantes del spacemaster y se han ido presentando, debemos estar sobre los 20-25 a estas alturas y la verdad que es una experiencia bastante particular estar en una clase rodeado con gente de Australia, Mexico, Turquía, Brasil, Serbia, Irlanda, Pakistan, India, Venezuela, China, ... aunque lo que queda patente es que el alemán cuesta aprenderlo sin importar tu lugar de procedencia.

También es muy interesante estar con un grupo de gente así fuera de clase, ves como interactua la gente, las cosas que hacen gracia a unos y otros, la manera de expresarse o la facilidad/dificultad para relacionarse. Entonces, te das cuenta de que lo que tu siempre has dado por sentado no es así para todo el mundo, que las 1.00 de la noche de un viernes por la noche es hora de ir volviendo para casa.
